Monday Motivation: Stop Limiting Your Potential with Self-Doubt!

I've been in a book-reading phase the past couple of weeks. The book I've been reading over Thanksgiving break is by Joel Osteen, called "Your Best Life Now." I’m really drawn to the message in the book that speaks out to me: stop limiting your potential. I've been going through a period of self-doubt lately in regards to a goal I set. But I’ve been working on my mindset, and changing my challenge into opportunity. That's what I want to talk to you about today!

It's natural, and almost too easy to fall into the trap of negative thinking. And when I say it's a trap, it basically feels like a bottomless pulling you further down until you almost can't see the light. Positive thinking takes practice, and it is something that must be maintained. It requires maintenance and care, but it pays rich rewards. If there is a goal you're trying to achieve today, tomorrow, next month or next year, I challenge you to train your mind to know that the goal is already yours.

This goal, dream or plan has already been mapped out by God. The path has already been paved. The blessing is yours to claim! Here's the catch—the blessing God has in store for you can't find its way into your life if you're blocking it out. How do you block your blessings, you ask? By practicing negative thinking. Yes, you practice it everyday that you choose it. God gives us the will to desire, chase, and attain our dreams. But with free will also comes the way we choose to pursue our dreams, or if we even choose to pursue our dreams at all. If you have a dream or desire in your heart that seems to only grow stronger with time, pursue it. It doesn't matter what resources you have at your disposal. It doesn't matter how much time you have, how much money you have, or how much support you have. You have a God who has zero limitations. You have a God who creates miracles, who makes the impossible possible.

I challenge you today to reset your day, week, or month. I challenge you to give God your limitations, and to pursue whatever it is that your heart desires. But most of all, I challenge you to wake up each day this week and practice the act of positive self-talk and affirmations. Wake up first thing in the morning and say to yourself "Today is going to be a great day. I am favored." God gave us daytime for new beginnings, and nighttime for endings. You can decide at any moment to restart your day, week, or your life. Wake up and feel God's glory, and know that the blessing He has in store for you is waiting to be claimed. Claim it, pursue it, own it!

Here's a few more reminders for your new goal-achieving mindset:

  • You need to ignore what everyone else is doing and achieving. Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life. You are not in competition with anyone else. Plan to outdo your past—not other people.

  • Do and try things before you feel ready.

  • If the plan doesn't work change the plan, not the goal.

  • Stop choosing to do nothing just because you can only do a little. Do what you can. God will take care of the rest.

Happy Monday!

xo, Avery
