One of the questions I probably get asked more frequently is what lip color I wear. When I respond, it’s never just one short answer lol, since there’s not just one! I use a couple of different shades at a time. So, below I’m sharing my lip color combo, the brands I use, and the order in which I apply them! Some days may look different, but for the most part, I stick to these 5 shades/combos/brands:

1) LIP LINER: MAC “Soar”

It may seem odd, but I put on my lip liner first. It’s just something I’ve always done! (I don’t know if it’s common or not? Lol.) But I’ve always used this color lip liner. It’s a mid-tone pinkish brown. It blends with a lot of shades, and I always lean towards keeping my lip liner a veryyy slightly darker color than my lipstick. This one blends perfectly with the lipstick I mention below, MAC Lipstick “Twig”. Another color I like is “Whirl” by MAC, which is similar in shade, but is described as a “dusty rose” because it features several colors in one (but in my opinion, looks like a brownish pink color).

2) LIPSTICK #1 [Satin]: MAC “Twig”

This MAC lip color “Twig” is a shade I’ve been hooked on for a while. It’s the base shade of my lip color combo, and it has a satin finish. It’s a soft muted brownish-pink. I also love it because it’s buildable and lasts almost all day (especially if I use setting spray—my fave being Milani Dewey Finish).

3) LIPSTICK #2 [Creamy]: BOBBI BROWN “PINK CLOUD”

Lipstick + Bubble Braid Hair

Wearing NYX Butter Lip Gloss here.

I’ve had this lipstick last me for so long! The original color I’ve always used is a creamy pink called “Pink Ballet”, but I believe that color may have been discontinued (or the name changed). So I tried to link the most similar color, being “Pink Cloud” from Bobbi Brown. But if I’m not using a light pink, I’m using MAC’s Creme d’Nude, which is a beautiful creamy light beige color! Both have a glossy finish which I LOVE! It’s not as shiny as lip gloss but keeps your lips looking moisturized. It’s a great alternative if you don’t have lip gloss handy.

Application: I apply either of these colors just in the crease of my lips, AFTER I use Lipstick #1, so that it gives my lips a fuller, two-toned look.

4) LIP GLOSS: MAC LIPGLASS “C-THRU”

This lip gloss from MAC, or for name’s sake “Lipglass”, is a light cream nude color, which I will typically use if I don’t have my creamy lipstick (#2) with me, or if it continually wears off. I also only apply my lip gloss on the middle creases of my lips, unless my lips are totally chapped.

Another super inexpensive alternative I use for lip gloss (on!y $5!) is NYX Butter Gloss. I’ve used “Angel Food Cake” and “Creme Brulee” many times. I’m impressed with this lip gloss for the price. It’s so shiny, while also adding more color to your lip! I only use this if I’m trying to keep my lips one shade (which is probably a normal thing to do anyway, lol), but a lot of times I prefer two-tones or shades of color to add dimension.

I’m sorry if this post seemed confusing! I tried my best to explain my routine, but I feel like it’s so much easier to demonstrate it in a video! You can check out my “MAKEUP” Highlight on my Instagram Page to see how I apply my favorite lip shades, or if you’re looking for more beauty finds!
