Breastfeeding is beautiful, but it can also be so toughโ€”especially in those early postpartum weeks. Whether youโ€™re exclusively nursing, pumping, combo feeding (like I didโ€ฆwe BF + bottle-fed), or just trying to figure out what works for you, having the right essentials helps! As a new mom, I had no idea what to expect. I just knew that my entire nursing experience was dependent on baby! Iโ€™ve put together this list of my personal favorite breastfeeding + pumping items from Amazonโ€”products that helped me heal faster when baby was learning to latch + provided comfort and ease throughout our 9-month journey, both nursing and pumping.

For reference, I used the Spectra S2 Plus Electric Pump and loved it. You may be able to request a free pump through your insurance. For all of my must havesโ€”READ BELOW.

MY HEALING MUST HAVES:

I was sore and cracked while my son was learning to latch in the first month..and it was miserable! Iโ€™m SO thankful for these products and I SWEAR by them, as they helped speed up my healing in just 3 days:

  1. Silverette Nursing Cups โ€” I canโ€™t say enough about how well these worked for when I was scabbing within the first month of nursing. For a week, I struggled to continue feeding. This aided in my healing so quickly!

  2. Earth Mama Nipple Butter โ€” this helped moisurize when the nips were cracked + trying to heal. This nipple cream is safe for baby to ingest.

  3. Lansinoh Breast Therapy Packs or Medela Hydrogel Pads โ€” these hot and cold breast pads helped me so much when I would get engorged. Especially in the first month, these pads along with hot showers helped provide relief when I would get clogged and achey.

The combination of these three products saved me. Pack them in your hospital bag just in case!

BREASTMILK STORAGE:

  1. Medela Breastmilk Storage Bags โ€” When I finally started having to use my frozen milk, these bags were the best. I originally stored my milk in the Lansinoh Bags for a while, and it wasnโ€™t until I started regularly defrosting the bags that I noticed how often they would leak. The Lansinoh plastic seemed much more thin compared to the Medela Bags. I didnโ€™t have a single leak in the Medela ones, and we know how precious each drop of breastmilk is!

  2. Milk Glass Bottles with Airtight Lid (2) โ€” Long after breastfeeding, I still use these glass milk bottles for water, milk or juices. You can keep freshly expressed breastmilk in the fridge for a couple of days, and the airtight lids help keep the milk fresh.

  3. Breastmilk Cooler Bag โ€” I used this so much more than I thought I would. It also comes with an ice pack specifically made for bottles, fitting up to 6 bottles and keeping them cool for up to 8 hours. Itโ€™s great for days on-the-go. I brought it with us even if we just went out to eat, just in case it was time to feed.

  4. Momcozy Portable Milk Warmer โ€” I wish I saw this product sooner! This would have come in handy SO many times.

If youโ€™re breastfeeding, be sure you donโ€™t forget Vitamin D Drops for baby! Iโ€™d put these drop these in his milk.

I know every moms breastfeeding experience is different, but I hope this list gives you a good starting point or fills in some gaps in your own routine! Youโ€™ve got this mama.
