Breastfeeding Essentials for New Moms: Must Haves for a Smoother Postpartum Journey
PUMPING BRA | BREASTMILK COOLER | BREASTMILK STORAGE BAGS | NURSING FRIENDLY PJ’S | SILVERETTE NURSING CUPS | PUMP TRAVEL BAG
Breastfeeding is beautiful, but it can also be so tough—especially in those early postpartum weeks. Whether you’re exclusively nursing, pumping, combo feeding (like I did…we BF + bottle-fed), or just trying to figure out what works for you, having the right essentials helps! As a new mom, I had no idea what to expect. I just knew that my entire nursing experience was dependent on baby! I’ve put together this list of my personal favorite breastfeeding + pumping items from Amazon—products that helped me heal faster when baby was learning to latch + provided comfort and ease throughout our 9-month journey, both nursing and pumping.
For reference, I used the Spectra S2 Plus Electric Pump and loved it. You may be able to request a free pump through your insurance. For all of my must haves—READ BELOW.

MY HEALING MUST HAVES:
I was sore and cracked while my son was learning to latch in the first month..and it was miserable! I’m SO thankful for these products and I SWEAR by them, as they helped speed up my healing in just 3 days:
Silverette Nursing Cups — I can’t say enough about how well these worked for when I was scabbing within the first month of nursing. For a week, I struggled to continue feeding. This aided in my healing so quickly!
Earth Mama Nipple Butter — this helped moisurize when the nips were cracked + trying to heal. This nipple cream is safe for baby to ingest.
Lansinoh Breast Therapy Packs or Medela Hydrogel Pads — these hot and cold breast pads helped me so much when I would get engorged. Especially in the first month, these pads along with hot showers helped provide relief when I would get clogged and achey.
The combination of these three products saved me. Pack them in your hospital bag just in case!
BREASTMILK STORAGE:
Medela Breastmilk Storage Bags — When I finally started having to use my frozen milk, these bags were the best. I originally stored my milk in the Lansinoh Bags for a while, and it wasn’t until I started regularly defrosting the bags that I noticed how often they would leak. The Lansinoh plastic seemed much more thin compared to the Medela Bags. I didn’t have a single leak in the Medela ones, and we know how precious each drop of breastmilk is!
Milk Glass Bottles with Airtight Lid (2) — Long after breastfeeding, I still use these glass milk bottles for water, milk or juices. You can keep freshly expressed breastmilk in the fridge for a couple of days, and the airtight lids help keep the milk fresh.
Breastmilk Cooler Bag — I used this so much more than I thought I would. It also comes with an ice pack specifically made for bottles, fitting up to 6 bottles and keeping them cool for up to 8 hours. It’s great for days on-the-go. I brought it with us even if we just went out to eat, just in case it was time to feed.
Momcozy Breastmilk Cooler — another amazing option with total cooling for 24 hours!! Also comes with 2 bottles.
Momcozy Portable Milk Warmer — I wish I saw this product sooner! This would have come in handy SO many times.
If you’re breastfeeding, be sure you don’t forget Vitamin D Drops for baby! I’d put these drop these in his milk.
I know every moms breastfeeding experience is different, but I hope this list gives you a good starting point or fills in some gaps in your own routine! You’ve got this mama.
